What Makes Real Life Real Music Different?

August 4, 2020

What is it that makes Real Life Real Music different from your average interview show?

Our host Kyle Hutton, a Texas country artist himself, has been a dedicated music fan for as long as he can remember. “I am a music fan first and foremost,” claims Hutton. “I was listening to and learning about life through song long before ever writing one.” Due to his passion and curiosity about the music he loved, Real Life Real Music the series was born!

One of the main reasons our one of a kind acoustic series is so different is because it is hosted from a unique perspective: one songwriter interviewing another. Kyle started the series diving into the songs that meant something to him. As a songwriter himself, Hutton knows what kind of questions to ask, in order to give fans a deeper understanding of an artists’ songs and experiences.

RLRM started back in March of 2007, after Kyle stopped into the newly constructed Dosey Doe for a quick lunch. “I couldn’t believe the place,” says Hutton. “It’s so unassuming when you’re driving down I-45 at 70mph, but inside it’s like another place in time.” After meeting the owner Steve, it was clear that the two shared a vision about how live music should be experienced. Dosey Doe makes for the perfect small scale, intimate setting where artists and fans get to connect. After a few short months of planning, season one of #RLRMLive launched, and the rest is history!

Now in season 20, we’ve been blessed to have an endless number of incredibly talented songwriters on the show. In fact, we have over 250 interviews archived from some of the top Texas country, Red Dirt and Americana artists around! But even after all these years, our mission remains the same. After attending a Real Life Real Music show, we want our listeners to walk away learning more about their favorite artists than they ever have before!

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all our listeners for the support and love they’ve extended to us over the years. Whether you’re been listening from the beginning or just found us, your support means the world. We hope to see you at some of our upcoming shows!
