RLRM on the Radio

June 18, 2021

“This is one of the finest interview programs in the world.” – Michael Martin Murphey

Aside from our Real Life Real Music Live shows at Dosey Doe, RLRM is first and foremost a weekly radio broadcast. Fans have the opportunity to join in on exclusive radio tapings with their favorite artists, and hear the stories and experiences behind the songs they love!

The radio show was designed to be “An Hour of Music That Matters.” Unlike interview shows that only ask surface questions and play the hits, Kyle Hutton knows what questions to ask artists that prompt them to open up and share their life stories. Our goal is to have even the most dedicated fans leave having learned something new after every Real Life Real Music show.

Kyle Hutton, our host and local singer-songwriter himself, is first and foremost a music fan. His love for the craft sparked him to create an interview show that is catered to true music fans, the ones who appreciate songwriting as art. He wanted to create an intimate experience that really allows the music to shine, without all of the flashy lights and equipment. And so, Real Life Real Music was born!

Amidst the 160 year-old barn walls of Dosey Doe, artists provide an uncommon glimpse into the stories behind their songs, accented by the occasional rattle of forks and knives on “gourmet blue plate specials.” RLRM Radio transports the listener to the stage and provides front row seating for all. Radio tapings, now in their seventeenth season, attract enthusiastic studio audiences from far and wide. As evidenced by the finished product, the RLRM production and engineering team is first in class. The show has proven to be a leading resource for music fans worldwide, and attracts the very best talent in Texas and Americana music.

Our radio episodes run about an hour in length, with 4 minutes of recorded national spots, and 4 minutes available for local spot insertion. The show, delivered to affiliate stations via email through both dropbox and hightail, is separated into 4 segments.  Segments are typically 13-17 minutes in length, the timing of which is specific to each episode. Breaks are 2 minutes in length – 1 minute national spots, 1 minute local avails.
