More Than Just a Live Show

October 9, 2020

As many you know, here at Real Life Real Music we don’t just host a one of a kind live show. Besides our mission to bring music fans a unique, intimate concert experience, our passion for music has led us in a number of different directions over the years. That’s how the Real Life Real Music Foundation was born! The RLRM Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to do three main things: preserve music, make music and pass it on.

We’re proud to hold the RLRM musical archive, which is one of the nation’s largest music collections of Red Dirt, Americana and Country music. “The [RLRM Archives] are a treasure trove of important historical and cultural information exploring the many facets of Texas and Americana music.” – Dr. Gary Hartman, Director at the Center of Texas Music History.

And of course, we make music. We believe that a song can drastically change the lives of others, if you give it the power to. For that reason, we’re constantly on the lookout for artists that use their music to do good, and aim to bring social change. From foster care to natural disaster relief, we provide financial aid to get these projects off the ground, in order to spread the love and start making a difference.

Every summer, we host Songwriter Experience Camps in order to pass on the art of songwriting to the next generation. We pair experienced songwriters with the young people in our community, to teach them how songwriting can be used to express emotions and convey an idea. We’ve recently expanded our efforts to foster children as well, hosting some camps at The Settlement Home for Children in Austin, as well as through DePelchin Children’s Center in Houston. “The songwriter camp was a powerfully healing experience for our kids. The songwriting experience allowed each girl to tell her story in her own unique way, which was empowering and cathartic.” – Darcie DeShazo, Executive Director at The Settlement Home for Children.
