Long time friends of the show, this husband and wife pair are both accomplished Country and Americana musicians in their own right.
Bruce, long time friend of the show, is a legendary singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas. He has written his fair share of great songs over the decades- a few of which hit big when covered by popular country artists, such as Travelin’ Soldier “ sung by the Dixie Chicks, “Angry All The Time” sung by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and “Wrapped” sung by George Strait, to name a few. Now, his current project is The Next Waltz, an Austin-based recording company for artists, by artists. The company places an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of making music, using classic methods like 2-inch tape, 16-track recording, and all-analog reverbs.
Kelly Willis, Oklahoma Native is an ever talented singer and songwriter with a crystal clear voice perfect for Texas country tunes. Just last year in 2019, Willis surprised her fans with a comeback album, 11 years after her last solo album, Translated from Love in 2007. In those years in between, she spent her time recording and touring with husband Bruce, as a duet. This presented the pair with the perfect opportunity to take things a little slower and enjoy raising their family.
The pair’s fourth studio album, Beautiful Lie, released in 2019, brings that classic Texas singer-songwriter sound into the present day music scene. “When this Texas couple combines their talents, something especially powerful happens.” This is the first time they’re bringing these songs to the Real Life Real Music stage!
